Here's my attempt to mention events BEFORE they happen:
The local fireworks display is scheduled for 10 pm July 3rd at Nelson Park.
The Zoo will be open on July 4th. Many local communities will be hosting picnics and other events on Thursday. Parades are scheduled at 9 am in Buffalo Gap and 10 am in the Hillcrest area just north of Ambler.
Next Tuesday, July 9th, ACU alumni are invited to an outdoor movie showing of "Despicable Me." The June showing was cancelled because of rain. I'm pretty sure a good rain would be even more welcome than a free movie.
Saturday, July 13th, you can catch Glenn Dromgoole's Abilene Stories at the Buffalo Gap Historical Village for FREE!. Admission to the village is also free at 11 am that day.
Sign up your long, short pooch for the Dachshund Races at 5 pm on July 18th near the Festival Gardens. This would be a great opportunity to bring your pups to explore Camp Barkley.
Don't forget the local Farmers Market on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays near Frontier Texas. Add in a slew of Vacation Bible Schools and we've got the makin's of a very hot summer.
