Have you noticed that everybody talks weather? It is as universal as gossip about community members. When the stormy weather hit us earlier in the week one could almost always draw a crowd by pulling up a weather radar screen and commenting on the green sections of the map.
We were in Maine for a few days this month. Mainers love to tell you about their changeable weather. "If you don't like the weather now, just give it a few minutes and it will change." In Connecticut they told me that Mark Twain loved the sound of rain on a tin roof so he had part of his roof covered in tin. But the weather back then was as fickle as today and the rain always skipped that portion.
No use getting into tall tales. Let those Yankees fuss about their Nor'easters and such. We've got plenty of heat and dust to complain about.
But it is really hard for me to adjust to the size of some of those New England states. It's about the same distance from New York State across Vermont and New Hampshire to Maine as it is from Abilene to Fort Worth or from Hartford CT across Massachusetts and the tip of NH to Maine. And even with that aggravating 65 mph speed limit from Weatherford to Fort Worth, I'm pretty sure travelling across this part of Texas is lots faster than anywhere else. All those toll plazas in the East will slow a person down.
